Stereo Amp-Can't find it! 900

1991 940SE Wagon. Replacing the factory stereo (CR 814) with a Kenwood (MP345U) that has an Ipod jack in the front face. I removed the entire stereo console as it was cracked and required replacement. Removed the lower knee bolster beneath the steering wheel. Removed the trim and rocker switches to the right of the steering wheel. I still can't find the stereo amp. I have hold of the cable of the amp wire (round) that plugs into the rear of the old stereo. I can only follow it back a few inches and it disappears into the main harness and up into the rear of the dash towards the cowl. I've read that the amp is silver/black and about 2"x6". How can I not find this thing. Help a poor guy out as I am going nuts and beginning to feel quite foolish!

Got it!! Thanks for the help guys. Like I thought, basically right in front of my nose! Now I just have to figure out a way to mount the sleeve for the replacement stereo in the pocket.

Dear Sarki,

May this find you well. Further to Gus' post, if you pull the instrument cluster, you'll see the amplifier. It is finned, and just below the instrument cluster, next to the steering column. I've never had to remove it, so cannot advise you on how to do that.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook

Hi,

It is about the size you stated, but as I recall it is on the left side of the steering wheel and you need to remove the two big panels under the steering wheel.Sorry, I can't find a picture of it.

Gus
