245 Wagon tail light wiring question 200 1989

Hi- I replaced the right rear bulb in my 245 and (although it works), the "bulb out" light in the dash comes on intermittently (mostly when I'm going over bridges). Everything checks out visually, except there is a loose wire behind the spare tire with a splicer on the end- see photo (the wire is black then green) http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g206/billbosh/misc/IMG_1098.jpg . Not sure whether this has anything to do with it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Bill B

Do you have a power antenna? Just guessing here maybe it is associated with that. Check the lamp sockets and connections to include the grounds.

Wait for the experts, Art that's your cue!

Thanks for the quick reply. No I do not have a power antenna. That's probably what it's for (the metal splicer end of the wire is green/oxidized, indicating that it hasn't been used in a very long time, if at all).
      Thanks again,
      Bill
