93 240 recently started to have braking issues. When coming to a slow stop, right before the vehicle halts (1-3mph) the brakes feel like they are slipping and then the car stops.

I tried a couple of panic stops and didin't have any issues

Any ideas?

When it slips does the pedal drop lower too? If so, it could be your master cylinder.

Does it just slip or slip then grab? If you get a sense of a sense of slipping then grabbing it could be a problem with the contact between your pads and rotor. Any unusual ridges, wear or possibly a contaminated rotor surface?

Highly unlikely, but if there is grabbing or uneven braking action it could be your brake booster going out.

how do you know it's the ABS system at fault? did you feel the brake pedal pumping?

That's just it- I don't know.

It kinda feels like there is something going on with the ABS

Make sure the wheel sensors are clean. I pulled mine out a few weeks ago and I couldn't believe all the iron filings, etc, that had collected on them.

Is it pretty obvious where these are located on all the wheels once I pull the rims/tires off?

And is pulling them easy?

On my 740, the front ones are inserted through the dust plate on the inboard side of the rotor. They're held in place with a small screw. If you slide under the car and look at the wheel you should see the wire running to the sensor.

I believe the rear wheel rotation info is provided by the speedo sensor in the differential - no maintenance there.

True also for the 240. Only one wire goes to each front wheel strut. It leads to the sensor on that wheel. Rear sensor, mounted on differential, also runs the speedo. It's not exposed to the elements.
