Brickboard Hall of Fame 200

Hi Guys,

I've had my 240 for about 10 years now and have received great advice and guidance from the folks here on the Brickboard. Over time, I've seen people come and go and I'm not even sure if some of them are active any longer. I know that my activity on the board depends on how my 240 is running. I might have a good spell where I'm not on here much for 6-8 months because the brick is running strong.

So this got me to thinking about the contributors who have helped me out. The people that have taken the time to offer great advice. The people who frankly know their stuff and are way more intelligent than I am when it comes to repairing cars and specifically fixing the rear wheel drive Volvos we love. So here's a question for you guys... Who are your favorite Brickboard posters? Who is in the Brickboard Hall of Fame?

For me, here's the people I trust and who historically have offered great advice that have helped me out. I hope they are doing well and I thank them. No offense to anyone I forgot to name on the list. My brain is small and I've gotten such great advice from folks around here. This is my Brickboard Hall of Fame. These are in alphabetical order.

1. Art Benstein
2. Erling
3. Don Foster
4. Chris Herbst
5. Jorrell
6. rhaire
7. rstarkie

So if you have a Brickboard hall of fame (and I think this is a great idea) can the hall of shame be far behind? I put coolant in the windshield wiper resevoir twice I think- on different cars.

When it comes to fubars, my worst whoops was installing the flywheel 90 degrees out on a 1990 244. My all time favorite (not done by me) was to pour engine oil down the automatic transmission fluid dipstick tube! After a little driving, the result was "neutral" in every gear except park!

No Steve Ringlee = No 700/900 FAQ 200

Now that would have been a loss.

Agreed. Steve must be included.

Haven't heard from you in a long time. How are you?

Great idea, Tom!

Although he has gone on to the great Volvo Garage where I am sure he is getting around MUCH better,
let us not forget Steve Stanfied, AKA BaronGrey (the Baron of Grey Matter),
who was able to work on Volvos with a broken pelvis, maybe even leap tall buildings
WITHOUT a single bound, etc.
It is a poorer Brickboard without him!

Excellent idea for a post.

High time we acknowledged the folks who make this board great.

Already mentioned, but when I read the original 7 nominees, the two additional names that jumped to my mind were Lucid and pageda.

Definitely a good list, along with a couple of other additions as noted.

I'm flattered to be on the list, and always glad to help.

I live most of the year in Phoenix, where I live in a loft with indoor structure parking and no work space (hint hint, will trade technical skills and/or manpower for occasional car work space!). The few months I spend up north see some densely packed car hobby days, then I'm off to spend winter in the warm weather again.

My hope is that I've given back as much as I've taken from this board.

Thomas,

The folks that were mentioned in follow on posts are all worthy candidates. I will also offer that Art Bernstein should be elevated to the level of Chief Technical Officer (CTO).

In regards to my name being on your list, I am humbled and greatly appreciative. That being said, the BB has been invaluable to me in taking care of our bricks since 1997. This is something I could not have done without the BB! Bleen just flipped 294K miles this weekend, that would not have been possible without the input, ideas, and advice that a bunch of 240 fanatics have kept alive and made great!

Art is the CTO even if he doesn't acknowledge that fact!

Hey Thanks Mom!
Seriously I think most everybody on this board tries to help and pass on what they have learned from each other. My knowledge pales in comparison to some of the top dogs and I'm not afraid to ask for help when I need it.
I came onto this board several years back with a lot of shade tree mechanic experience and very little Volvo knowledge. I'm pretty confident I can keep mine running now.
Thanks to all.
Dan

There are numerous guys who stick to the older cars and are a wealth of information (like walrus3 and alschnertz, for exapmle). And the FWD/AWD crew would be significantly poorer without Klaus.
