some front end bushings 120-130

Any opinions re upper control arm bushings - stock rubber or poly? Strictly drive around town/highway use. Going with IPD source as they also have the idler arm bushing we need. Also what's up with them stocking 2 versions of this bushing? The OEM one looks like it doesn't have the inner metal sleeve, though that's probably an optical conclusion.

"The OEM one looks like it doesn't have the inner metal sleeve, though that's probably an optical conclusion" -- I don't know about it being an optical conclusion--but it is not an optical illusion--no inner sleeve on the OEM bushing--it gets pushed into the outer sleeve and mounts directly onto the shaft.--Dave

This doesn't make any sense to me. I don't understand what you mean.

I checked with IPD and they checked stock and say they both have inner sleeves even though it doesn't look like the OEM one does.

The original bushing is very pliable and is only rubber--no sleeve permanently attached. The outer sleeve is what the control arm and u-clamp directly touch. To remove the assembly you loosen the nuts (9/16" wrench/socket) on the u-clamps and the nuts (been too long to recall-11/16 or 3/4") at the end of the crosshaft. I work one end at a time with a jack under the lower control arm lifting just a little--this will allow the control arm to lift free of the outer sleeve after the u-clamp is removed. With the end nut/washer removed the bushing will slide to the end and off the shaft. Sometimes it takes some gentle persuasion to get it moving. With the combo old bushing/outer sleeve in hand you can usee your fingers or a tool to push the old bushing out of the sleeve--it is usually heavily worn--may just fall out on its own. A little lube (your choice) applied to the new bushing and it will squeeze into the old outer sleeve. Clean the end of the shaft-slip the new bushing/sleeve onto the shaft-lower the control arm end onto the outer sleeve and install the u-clamp and then the end nut/washer--leave tightening the end nut till the car is on the ground and the suspension settled.-- Dave

          miscommunitcation.

I know about the upper inner control arm bushings, having done this many times,

I was actually referring (not clearly enough) to the idler arm bushing. see here:

I wasn't clear enough in distinguishing one from the other.
