Turbo Oil Cooler Lines 900 1994

Hi All,

My 94 940 Turbo has a cracked oil turbo cooler line. I'm going to replace both while I'm in the area, since they look to be of similar age (probably original).

My question is this, Do I need to drain the whole cooling system to replace these or will I only lose coolant from the thermostat back to the heater valve?

Thanks!

-mp

That system has the drain cock down low and is extremely easy to use. I would just put a catch basin under it and let it drain out.

If the coolant hasn't been changed in the last couple of years it is the prefect time to replace it with new. Over time coolant loses it ability to combat electrolysis which can lead to head damage and a blown head gasket.

I just changed mine i put a drain bucket under, because it had a rusty line and when it went i lost a lot of fluid even with the bucket underneath it,
So i would probably drain it

To try & drain as little as possible I usually clamp off the upper & lower rad hoses. Not perfect but you won't drain the whole system.

Thanks to everyone for responding!

That sounds like good advice. What do you generally use to clamp off radiator hoses?
