Looks like Monroe shocks for 122 are the following part numbers:

1000958 Rear Shocks by Monroe $42.90 ipd
1000957 Front Shocks by Monroe $40.04 ipd

Is this correct?
Does anyone know a source other than IPD (they are out)?

And who offers free shipping deal for Monroe shocks?

    I am a bit confused - this started out as a question about shocks for a 220 Estate - correct? I just looked on the Monroe site and found information concerning the 140 series and nothing about the 120 series, including the 220. Wouldn't the rear shock need to be a bit more beefy than the front, or vice versa? I am really new to the 220, so I need pictures I think, about what to use. I also do not want to spend the national debt on Koni's etc. I am using the GDP for the '66 1800 I am also working on...

      Since he gave IPD number 1000958 for the rear shocks, I assume he was talking about a sedan or coupe (P120/P130) and not a wagon (P220).

      Many parts that are common to other vehicles (i.e. shocks) that fit these cars are available but the trick is to have a cross reference number for it. I have a listed started for the PVs, but nothing for a 122.

      Anybody started a cross reference list for a 122?

    Go online tons of deals on monroes. BTW if those prices are each IPD is really going too far. That price should be per pair delivered, also your local NAPA etc should have them either on hand or 12 hrs away.

      Somebody has to have the right part number for you. My bet is the part numbers IPD have are their own internal part number.

      I know 122 (P120/P130) KYB Gas-a-just numbers are (Front) - KG5512 and (Rear) - KG5517

      The Ford Mustang (1965) uses the KG5517 on the front, which is the Monroe #31069, and the Plymouth Barracude uses the KG5512 on the rear, which is the Monroe #32073. Rockauto.com sells both for about $12 each.

      Hopefully, somebody can confirm that this is the correct cross reference numbers for the Monroe shocks for a 122 coupe/sedan.

      Edit: OK-Did some checking, I did find a site (Autozone.com) that list Gabriel shocks for a 122. The front is Gabriel #82026 which cross reference to Monroe #LE10001 :

        Just wanted to clarify, I stated KYB #KG5512 was for the front, but it was KYB #KG5514. Probably why my cross reference was wrong for the Monroe #32073, which turned out to be Monroe #LE10001 (the right one for KYB #KG5514).

        Thanks, I just found two Gabriel #81270 new in box out in the parts shed.
        I'll have to guess they were purchased years ago for the 122 and unused...or they were for the '64 Mustang, long gone. Parts is parts. Thanks for the interchange help.

        An interchange list of basic 122 parts to other vehicles would be nice:
        Bosch points for 67 VW?
        shocks for mustang/barracuda
        lucas /bosch interchange

        Volvos were like American Ramblers, motors from GM, fuel pump from there.

          If IPD is selling a Monroe shock for Volvos, I suspect that those Monroes were made in the UK or Canada for the European trade. There's a big difference.

            Just received a set of Monroes today for my Amazon. Marked as "Made in the EU" Numbers are Front - R1504 Rear - R1121
            These numbers on the boxes and stamped on the shock bodies.
            I'm in the UK. All 4 for approx £120 inc VAT and delivery. Rears a little more expensive than the fronts which I guess is due to the extra top cover on the rears.

              Derek,

              Let us 220 owners know how the Monroe feel. My Bilsteins are a little aged and worn out, lots of rebounding. I can only guess towing the caravan for a few thousand miles didn't do the shocks any favours.

                My Amazon is a 4 door saloon so possibly not a lot of help for Wagon owners but I fitted the rear pair to replace the KYB's on Saturday. Did a 300 mile round trip today, in 290 minutes, helped by a 7am start but slowed on the return journey around the crowded motorways around the London outskirts. Not hanging about though for a single carbed B18A. 4.10 axle and OD a big help. On the out leg I had it in OD for 140 of the 150 miles. Oh yes, the dampers..

                Rated a big success and they match in very well with the "unknown" front ones. I don't know how much the fronts will improve the ride if I do fit the new Monroes there. It was interesting watching modern cars ahead coping with various types of road bumps and undulations and then feeling how the old Amazon dealt with the same ones. I thought it did pretty well even when doing 60-70mph(+). When doing the lower shock fixings I noticed that most of the rubber pucks on the trailing arms were well overdue for replacement so the axle wasn't as well controlled as it should have been. Means that the shocks should work even better when that's done.
                So far then, a thumbs up for Monroes.
