1992/740/220K-WeakBrakeBooster? 700

I recently bled the brakes on my 1992 740. I think they are basically OK, I don't notice any leaking anywhere, the pedal is nice and firm. However, it takes more effort than I'd like to bring the car to a halt. So I suspect the brake booster may need some attention. The hose from the booster drum to the intake manifold looks a bit cracked/heat tortured and could probably do with replacing.
3 questions:
1) Is replacing the brake booster check valve and hose (they are cheap enough at IPD) likely to improve this situation?
2) Is this a simple job?
3) How is it done? Do you just prise out the white check valve carefully and work the hose off the intake manifold?

Thanks,

Rob

Usually if there's a leak involving the brake booster the idle will change when you apply the brakes. Check to see if the front calipers aren't getting stuck. Sometimes the flexable brake lines develope an internal restriction.

1. Maybe
2. Yes
3. Yes
Before getting parts why not check the operation of the check valve and make sure hoses are clear and not leaking. If leaking you would probably hear a hissing sound.
