Glove box door - exterior trim loose 200

1988 245 Wagon: The rattle in my dash is coming from the entire exterior glove box door trim panel being loose from the black interior panel. How are the two attached [pins? glue?]. I don't want to put a screw or bolt and nut drilled through both parts that is visible on the outside. I want to do a repair to keep it looking OE, I'm ok with putting a small screw or two on the interior. Suggestions?

Yep, sure enough, the outer and inner pieces come from the factory with a a bead of adhesive all around the perimeter and a couple of other places. After 22 years, "material failure' was the cause, the old adhesive peeled right off. I had a tube of liquid nails handy and I used a couple of spring clamps over small blocks of wood protected by cloth to hold the two pieces while it dries. Thanks for getting me in the right direction. The real conquest will be if that solves the vibration coming from the dash.

I use whatever is available at the time which most often is liquid nails or silicone caulk.
