A friend just bought a pretty decent 1988 245 GL yesterday, which I am helping him rehab. I've worked up a 2-page list of things that need attention, so the car is off the road for the next week or so, but once we get it rolling again, the rattling of the center caps on the corona wheels whenever the car is in motion will drive me nuts. Any experience with silencing these things?

Just bend the tabs on the rear of the caps so that they are snug.some have used silicone and others have used "biutyl'[sp] tape,black sticky stuff.Both do the trick.I have removed my center caps,use the smaller center cap with chrome lugs,looks sportier.

Chrome lug nuts and 60mil black Volvo center caps looked awesome when I had Coronas. Very Sporty!

I have never had them rattle.I would suggest you double check the source of the noise..Also when in doubt of their holding ability i use a 1/8" bead of silicone all the way around about 1/2" from the outer edge.They pry of fairly easy wth a screwdriver
