1992 Volvo 240 200 1992

Hey guys, I had a few questions about my newly-purchased 1992 Volvo 240. I TRULY love this car so far, being the "check engine" light was on when I bought it. I unplugged the battery for 20 mins to allow the light to turn off, It did but my friend told that it would turn back on after 200 miles of use. Sure enough it did and a few mins afterwards the car sputtered for a few seconds then went back to normal, then when I got home and put it into park, the engine revved a bit then I cut the car off...Kinda confused as to what it could be. Please give me your best advice. Other than the issue, I LOVE MY VOLVO!!!! Thanks...

Welcome to the BB.

You are going to have to help us out a bit.

Do you know how to get the codes out of the Box that Art is showing you?

If you find the code that is turning on the CE light, it may reveal some more clues. EngineOBDCodes

You can get the codes from a box on the left strut mount, as shown here. To reset the computer, you don't have to disconnect your battery, just pull fuse 6 out momentarily. No need to wait 20 minutes. No need to lose your radio presets.

Read the codes on the OBD module and tell us what you get.
