940 e-code headlamp 900

Are these the e-codes for the 940, with integral foglights? Look like it to me. Certainly aren't the normal US lights.

      Thank you.

This guy is selling them, and also apparently the turn signal lenses that go with them. He does not identify them as euro spec, but swears the items match the image, and he has the normal US lights for sale in other listings.

I have ordered headlight and turn signal assemblies, and will advise the board when they arrive of actual brand, quality, etc. Still need to find a 960 in the yard to harvest the other necessary parts (switches, relays, grille, grille supports, etc. for the conversion from a 940 w/o fogs. There was one there last fall (a cash for clunkers victim) in gorgeous condition, but I had despaired of ever getting e-codes and didn't pull the necessary parts.

Am so tired of crappy headlights.

        hello
yes 92-94 960s will have the parts you need.
also any 940s with the headlight/foglight setup will also have the parts.
i believe 760 will also have the parts you need.
get the corner light sockets from the 95 and newer to fit the e-code corners, you can put two bulbs in each corner light, they differ from 940 us spec sockets/bulb holders.
        good luck
        Mike

          Hi,
Can you elaborate on the corner lamps electrical conversion?
Also the fogs, will the northamerican spec integrated fogs (beside grill) run with the same bulb and harness as the e-code spec integrated fog?

I just bought a set of these from fcpgroton this morning, with the corners (great price). I was told the headlamps run with H4, but I have no idea about the flashers and the fogs...
Let me know please what I need to buy to convert, I have no time to go to junkers.

          Thanks,
          Greg Mustang

RepairmanJack did a non-fog conversion to these and did a nice writeup about a year ago, with hard parts needed etc.
To convert from fog type, they bolt in. Electrically, there have to be mods to the wiring. This can be done by cutting/splicing, or by getting adapter plugs.
Relays are a good idea but no one has written that up exactly. I am doing that but have not gotten some bits yet.
Turns have an amber and a clear section with separate bulbs. Some just put the stock holder in the amber section and ignore the clear. Some get another holder, and wire the bulbs separately by cutting/splicing, so the clear goes on with the marker lights and the amber goes on with the blinker.
There is more info on TB, and at Daniel Stern.

              OK thanks.

What socket types are used for the turns (both bulbs)?
I assume the US sockets will not work, right?

Also, are there two or three bulb connections to the main lamp? I am confused, because often I have read about the low beam and the high beam... are they not in the same H4 bulb?

              Thanks again,
              Greg

The turn sockets are the same, so extras can be gotten at the jy.
H4 is low, H1 is high. But these plugs are not necessary, the entire assembly is wired from the bulbs to the one connector on the back that powers all 3 (low, high, fog) lights plus ground.
This connector is the same as the RSR relay connector, and others like it in the car. I recommend using one or modding one so that all 4 wires are bigger, not just two like the rsr plug has.
So what you have to do, is mod the car's wiring for low high fog and ground so it ends at a 4 wire plug, which just plugs into the housing in the back.

                hello
not sure what to call the turn signal sockets. i used the sockets from a 960 92-94. you can run two bulbs/sockets or one. there are two places for two sockets.
the h-4 bulb is one bulb with three spade connectors and i believe they are not the same as u.s. in terms of what spade connector does what. try daniel stern as i dont remember.
if you didnt have fogs you will need that interior switch i believe.
i can take pics of the wiring tomorrow as its raining and dark right now.
                good luck
                Mike
