You can unhook the battery to defeat the 2 hour wait. The codes vary by year, some require pressing "aut" button at the end as part of the code.

Lastly it's possible a PO installed a replacement OEM radio in which case you need to pull it out to get the serial number off the radio unit itself. Then Volvo can get you the new code.

Hello,
On the 240 radio you have three chances to get it right then it
locks you out.
To reactivate and re-set the system I have let the car sit with
the key in position #2 for two hours to re-set the computer inside
it. If you try to enter the code in less then two hours you have
to start over again with the two hour wait.

Good Luck,
Joseph in NM/AZ

Hi

Thanks for the reply , so the code is written on the radio ,2126 , have used it before no problems , now it says "off" on display when I turn radio on , so unhooking the battery for how long?? , is it the same to unplug the power harness to the system?? thanks so much
or should I just toss it??

Rob

Just a few minutes but give the harness a try, in principle it should work. I have never understood the whole 2 hour wait thing with the key on. Seems like it would weaken the battery

You'll have to wait for the experts to explain on why your old code isn't working, I'm clueless.

When you have your key in the ignition,
when you turn the key you should feel
one click then a second click before the
starter is engaged. The second click
is position #2.

Let me kwow how it goes.

Joseph
