Oxygen sensor swap 200 1990

I found a good O2 sensor in the PNP (= the MAN'S Mall) but the wires are too short for the 90 245.
Could I just cut and splice the wires so that I use the PNP sensor with the car's original wires?
Would it work to give the same values as a universal sensor that is designed to be spliced in?
Thanks,
el raidman

Assuming it's the right sensor for the job, you could... though remember that the reference air sample comes in via the wiring.

That being said, the O2 sensor is probably the most important sensor in the car. I don't see the point of splicing in a used one with the cost of fuel these days. It'll end up costing more the long term vs. a new one.

Well I did it anyway....comparing used $16.95 to new $108.99 I can use a lot of gas until I can redo this by ordering the new universal one I saw on eBay for $20 next paycheck.
Car seems to run OK now.

If it is a three wire sensor you got in a Volvo it should be fine. Autozone sells a Bosch #13913 sensor for a Ford $40 that also works fine. Stick with Bosch.
