Wacky guages 900

Hi guys I have a 95 940 with around 148k miles. New dealer plugs and wires. My temp guage goes from o-normal and bounces occasionally and just noticed the fuel guage began to give very slow fuel level read. Just today the check engine light came on. Car is running well but has a strange lope upon starting in the morning. It will lope hard when you press deep with the brake upon a cold start. After that she will run normal.

Thanks for any input.

you're asking several not necessarily related questions for help.

to answer the first one about the wild temp gauge the problem is most likely in either the sender which screws into the block below the intake manifold or the connector which snaps onto the senders coupling. when mine was acting like that i found massive corrosion on connector end of the sender which broke off when i tried to disconnect it from the harness.

fuel gauge trouble is.......bad gauge, bad tank sender, bad connections including ground in between these two points or even a poor solder joint on the circuit cluster film, the see the faq for the means to pinpoint your diagnosis.

as for the CEL, have you considered before asking here you might take a moment and actually read what the code number is?

Thanks for your input. I didn't do a proper diagnostic but bet the house on the temp guage sensor as you mentioned. It seems to have worked. Guage is working properly. The check engine light was reset and so far so good.
