"PS: i also suggest you mark in easily seen paint or marker the precise alignment of the bolts and driveshaft position on to the tailshaft flange. this is balanced at the factory and if not replaced all in the same place and position can find a vibration introduced into the spinning driveshaft."
I have to question that, Ted, although I have seen that caution in the Bentley* manual. I've never worried about flange/yoke matching in my own adventures, with no ill effects noted. And I know that driveshafts are commonly balanced at specialty shops, while removed from the flanges at each end (as when I had a front section shortened and rebalanced with the rear half for a 240 V8).
Seems to me that if it was that critical, the factory would punch-mark the flanges & yokes at each end the same way they put alignment arrows on the front & rear driveshaft sections.
The Bentley* 240 manual does say to match both flanges, and that the 1988 and later cars have colored markings at the rear end of the driveshaft and flnge. But there's nothing like that in the 140 or 240 Green Books. They say only that "A propeller shaft is prepared and balanced as a unit", with no mention of flange/yoke matching in the removal/replacement instructions.
