sunroof seal 200

Is anyone had success using some generic products as sunroof seal? $80 for two pieces of rubber seems a bit overprised ..

I have an unused OEM Volvo set still in the bag. If you are interested send me an email. Will sell them very reasonably...

Not that a less expensive fix wouldn't be a good thing--but after taking a bath everytime it rained with our '83 242 Turbo (missing the seals altogether when we purchased the car) the results of replacing the seals and clearing the drains made it all seem worthwhile. -- Dave

How does one clear the sunroof drains and where exactly are they?

The front drains are in the front corners. Use a coathanger or similar long stiff wire and work it through as best you can. Then rinse with as high power a nozzle as you can.

Don't know if they are any drains in the back. I never did find them...

The sun roof assembly has a pan situated above the headliner with drain at the rear corners. It's been a very long time since I did ours--but I think the rear drains exit at the wheelwells--hmmm -- or maybe through the trunk(?)--Dave

Through the trunk. Look next to the wheel wells inside the trunk just behind the rear seats for a white plastic connector and three large diameter clear rubber hoses. One of those tubes snakes up to the rear of the sunroof pan, one runs out through the bottom of the trunk, and one drains the package shelf area.

            Serge,

Let me locate them first and then I'll send you an email. You also might want to doublecheck that the seals for a 1990 are the same as for 1983. Probably are...

            Thx,

            Jim

                1990 sunroof seals 200 1990

                Serge,

Yes, they are for the 1990 244DL. I just moved and haven't been able to find them yet...Will email you when I do.

I tried to email you but it defaults to Yahoo mail. I have Verizon and I made the mistake of choosing Yahoo as my homepage, since then all my emails default to Yahoo's email homepage. What a pain!

                Jim

    window leaking 200

I guess no one DIY sunroof seal .. actually I found that leaking windshield seal is a bigger problem on my car. it was raining all night here, car started fine at the morning, however in a lunch time cranking, no start. I pull a fuel pump relay and found it full of water.. (the harness was redone by PO and relay was just laying on the felt panel which was also soaked wet ..
