Stock Turbo Bars just as good as IPD? 200 1991

Just wondering what you folks think on this question? Would a good pair of Turbo Sway Bars be just as good as IPD sway Bars? I know the price difference and that is why I'm leaning to the Turbo. Really will I be able to tell? I putting them into a '91 245.

Thanks,
Ben

You'll tell the difference for sure, but the turbo bars are an excellent bang for the buck. Add Boge Turbo-Gas shocks and struts and 15" wheels (next time you're ready to spring for tires), and you'll be a pretty happy camper.

If you want the optimum, definitely go with IPD bars.

Do upgrade both bars at once, or you'll run into funky handling problems.

The turbo bars will be a significant difference and improvement over the stock bars, and the IPD bars will be a significant difference and improvement over the stock turbo bars. If you do go through the effort of upgrading to the stock turbo bars, make sure that you put in all new (poly) bushings when you do the swap. You'll like 'em, and you'll like the IPD bars even more when they become affordable for you. Remember, you can take the bars with you to the next 200 that you get, so that will help amortize them!

Turbo sways are a big improvement over stock but IPD's are noticeably better than turbo bars.

Crap...tried to copy and paste but it did not format properly...

Basically tells you the IPD bar at 25mm is 101% stronger than the stock turbo swaybar at 21mm.

So yes, the IPD bar will make a big difference over the stock turbo bar.

I've had IPD 1" bars front and rear on my '81 DL for 10+ years. They originally advertised the 1" rear for the GTs but when asked they said they would fit any 200 model. I live where it does not snow or get road ice. If your area does be careful how big a bar you put on the rear as bigger reduces understeer.

I'll second that. Be very aware of the the changes in handling as you stiffen up the rear. What feels very good on dry, paved road might give you a nasty surprise in heavy rain. Some rally drivers prefer no rear sway bar at all.

Never any problems in the rain or snow I live in the northeast so we get enough of both.
