Cooling Fluid Flow Diagram, can't find one. 200 1983

Yesterday afternoon I realized that my car is leaking cooling fluid.
It seems as if it is leaking near the rear of the engine, but
it was too dark and cold to check the location of the leak.

I searched around for a diagram of the flow of coolant fluid, both
online and in Bentley, but no luck.
Any ideas where the leak may be coming from near the rear of the engine?

I would also like to know how the tranny fluid circulates and cools,
does it have a pump in order to circulate to the radiator?

Thanks in advance,
Joseph in New Mexico

There is a heater return pipe that runs from the back of the water pump,it runs under the exhaust manifold and around the rear of the engine. The heater hose attaches to this pipe.Check the pipe for holes, these are known to rust.
Your other heater hose runs under the intake manifold and attaches to the head at the #4 cylinder port.

      Dan,
I think it is probably the heater hose that attaches to the engine
head at the #4 cylinder. Hopefully I can just splice the end off
that hose and reapply it. If I were to have to replace the complete
hose would I have to take apart the under-dash near the heater core?

      Thanks,
      Joseph

        No,
It's attached to a brass coupling at the firewall.

          Dan,
I got a better look at that hose and it seems quiet easy to swap out.
Funny thing this morning I put more water into the overflow
tank and drove to the car wash to clean the engine, all went well
except no water leak. I don't know where and cannot locate the
leak from last night. It was on an incline/driveway when leaking
last night. I will have to repeat that angle later today and
          then post my results.

          Thanks again,
          Joseph
