How hard to switch doors? 200

One of the girls parked too close to a tree in the yard then creased the drivers door backing out. It's cosmetic and the door works OK but while I have no skill at bodywork I do have a donor car the same year and color.

How hard is it to get a new door to line up right? Any tricks? I switched hinges which can take me half an hour(PITA). How long to switch the whole door, locks and window operators (donor door window tracks are trashed)?

BTW when fixed I've promised myself it's time to sell at least one, 6 bricks for three people is three too many.

if the guts of the "new" door are no good anyway, then empty out the "new" door, thereby making it much lighter (and training yourself on volvo door internals), remove the original door and hang the replacement. then you have the old door on the stand next to the car to simly swap out the parts, which you're already acquainted with from the first door you took apart. easy peasy, should take about 2-3 hours with the right tools.

Granted, I did the rear door, and just the door-- not the hinges-- but it was fairly easy.

It could have been dumb luck, but I'm not the smartest or handiest tinkerer and I was able to get it up and on (door panel and speaker swap) by myself. I used a heavy-duty hand cart for help and some towels propping the door up. It opens and closes fine, doesn't seem to be any different save for the lack of a gouge on the outside.

I would suggest photographing gaps, maybe, just to compare when you've got the thing on. It put my mind at rest a bit, as I was kind of paranoid initially.

Good luck!

a bit harder on the driver's side front door because of all the extra wiring. alignment is best done with 2 people.

The hardest part for me was swapping over the pinstriping.
