Some pics of my 1969 164 140-160 1969

It's been nine years today that I bought her.
Countless $$$ in getting her this far.
She's nearly finished.
Thanks to all that helped.
I thought I'd show her off a little on her 9th birthday.
Enjoy!

Your upholstery if splendid!

I am curious about a few other details...

What did you use for the wood grain affect on the dash?

Did you need to restore the silver (faux chrome) piping edging the dash and accenting the door panels? I look at mine in three 140's Ihave and think about painting them.

did you restore the control knobs or buy new or better ones?

The woodgrain dash is standard in the 164. It happened to be in great condition. The same with the knobs and dials for the most part. The plastic chrome trim surrounding the dash is original too.
I bought the door panel material from Sweden (VP Autoparts). They "weld" the chrome trim onto the material at their shop and ship it that way.
Thanks for asking.

The best part about this is that it doesn't take any time, energy, money, late night phone calls to Australia, VERY quiet dinner conversations when the last $350.00 IPD or VeteranProduktor box shows up on the door and you're not there in time to sign for it and she is...etc., etc. Very nice example of a neat old 41 year ol' Volvo! Keep up the great work, and don't forget your hardhat.

Beautiful!

The dashboard reminds me of my 1971 142 I had as a teen. Someday, I'll get another 140 or 160 from that era.

For some reason the picture didn't show up.
They're in the Gallery under 1969 Volvo 164 if this doesn't work.

Hi Jack
Car looks great. I had a '70 in that color a number of years back. I had converted the upholstery from blue to a tan from a later 164. I thought it looked much nicer with the navy blue body color. I have always regreted selling that car.

Im just curious about the badge on the lower part of your grille. I collect worldwide Volvo club badges and am always curious about seeing other badges on Volvos.

Bob

Hi Bob,
The badge has "Volvo Owners Club" on it. I'm not sure where it comes from.
It could be from a British Volvo club that goes by that name. I got it on ebay.
Thanks,
Jack

Yes, that is an early badge for the UK VOC. The two hole mount is actually for a badge bar clip but I have the same one mounted like that on my Amazon.
There was a similar one, chrome and enamel, with side tabs for two screws.
Later badges are square, pressed metal with a plastic insert, with a rear mount. Less class!

I have 10 different versions of the UK Volvo Owners Club badge. There is also a square version with a badge bar mounting tab similar to Jack's picture as well as a brass and enamel version with no chrome plating as well as several other square versions. In addition there was a 40th Anniversary round badge with painted enamel on brass.

I'm always interested in adding other Volvo club badges to my collection and would be pleased to hear from anyone who have badges available.

Best wishes
Bob

Nice!

Is that Air-Con I see? A rare item for that model.

Yes, AC and it actually works!
Of course in August in TN it may be a bit taxed.
In that case just crank open the vent windows and drive faster.
Btw, did anybody notice the small 240 clock mounted where the ashtray used to live?
I'm real proud of that mod. It's a perfect fit.

Out of curiosity, where did you pick up your fog lights?

Thanks for the comments. I'll post motor shots soon.
The fog lights I got on ebay a couple of years ago. They were NOS in a shop in Australia. I overpaid for them but I had to have them. I was glad to get them.
