Retractable cargo cover/shade anyone? 200 1992

Hi all

I am looking to install a cargo shade for my 245 and I am wondering if:

a. Anyone has fitted a non-original retractable shade on with success?

b. If yes to a., from which car and how did you install it - e.g., mounting points, etc.

Thanks

Lucast

Lucast,

My 245 origially came with one, but I can tell you how and where it mounts.

In the rear cargo area, just behind the rear seatback, you will see the carpeted side panels have a dip downward on each side. This is where the shade circular mounting brackets are located. You will be mounting them with sheetmetal screws. The rectangular locating holes in the bracket are clocked at 4 o'clock as you would look at the bracket while sitting in the floor of the car.

At the rear post of the car, you will be mounting the hooks that hold the rear of the shade. These should be located at the proper height to keep the shade level.

That's all there is to it.

Hey thanks. I'll go have a looksee. Will be getting my hands dirty today fixing a few bits and pieces.

Has anyone here successfully fitted an aftermarket or a retractable shade from another model of car?

It was a bit of a PITA, but I made one once using a rollup window shade tube, cut to appropriate length. I found some dark blue vinyl fabric that matched the upholstery. Worked tolerably well; my son has the car now, and the shade sits in his closet...or may have made the trip to the landfill.
