Speedo, ABS & such..observations 900 1994

Just thought I would post this as some is not mentioned in the FAQs (AFAICT).

The ABS came on and stayed on.... the wife's 940 (278k). Shortly thereafter the speedo stopped working.

Pulled the front wheels and brakes - cleaned the appropriate ABS parts. ABS light still on. Pulled 1-5-5 code - rear ABS sensor problem (while saying that many cars did not have an ABS sensor back there).

Then I read that the car had to get over 20 mph to reset the ABS. Slapping my forehead, I realized I had not fixed the speedo yet. It had to get over 20, but there was nothing to read.

Short story. There was a single wire broke at the speedo reader on the back chunk. When that was fixed, speedo works and ABS light off.

Bottom line ..if the speedo is not working and the ABS light comes on, fix the speedo 1st.

Got all the hints I needed reading the FAQs here. Thanks ...BB!
