Rear Shocks for 1991 240 200

Any thoughts on the KYB rear shocks? Advance Auto has the GR-2 and the GR-2 High Pressure Gas type. How do they compare to the OEM Volvo shocks? Reccommendations for rear shocks that are not expensive? I need to replce mine since they are leaking and my rear is sagging. Thanks.

KYB make a very good Cheap High pressure gas shock but the one for a 240 are too soft for me. I replace good rear shocks with BS HD and have not had time to replace to struts with BS HD. If you want to try a Good KYB real Cheap let me know. Greg

I have used several sets of Sachs Advantage and find them firm but not harsh.

I've used gas-a-just models before. Good for the money, but stiff for my taste.

I had a set of KYB's in the rear my 240 wagon. The ride was so bouncy that I considered the car unsafe at hwy speed. Replaced them with Sach after afew weeks.
They are now in my garage in Webster, NY, free to anyone who dares to stop by and try them.

I've used KYB's from fcpgroton with good results, several times on our multiple 240s.

I had Bilstiens on the Front when I had the KYB's on the rear which could of exacerbated the problems with the rear KYB's. I have had issues before mismatching brands with different specs. Regardless,, there's no way I'm ever going to use those shocks again.

If your rear end is sagging, shocks are not the problem and won't increase the ride height. Generally it is worn trailing arm bushings that affects height. After replacing TAB's, my wagon was about 1" higher in the rear. Also, rear springs affect the height but generally they don't sag unless the car is always loaded down with stuff in the trunk or you tow something with a heavy tongue weight. As for KYB, I love mine, I have the gas-adjust and they are just a little firmer than OE. I've used KYB on a couple of different vehicles and have had good results which means a decent ride and handling, not too stiff, not performance oriented. I think KYB makes a good product.

Thanks to everybody for their responses. I think I will go with the KYB Gas-A-Just monotube shock for the rear.
