Coolant level sensor question, and general electric question. 200 1991

Can someone tell me how to install a coolant level sensor? I checked FAQ and saw nothing for the 240. Also, basic electrical knowledge appears to be critical to keep my car running well. I don't understand the posts on this site that deal with electric at all. I don't even know what an ohm is, other than I think I heard it on a Paul Simon record once. Where do I go for the minimal knowledge I need to keep up with the posts on this site that deal with electric?

Thanks,
Cuddy

At least some basic electrical theory, or the laws that govern electronics, is explained here - Collin Cunningham from Make magazine explains Ohm's Law.

Good luck.

If I were you, I'd go to a local community college where they teach basic electricity. You need to know volts, amps, ohms, how they are measured, and how they relate to each other. A lot of students thought very little of basic algebra and physics in school. But, when they get older and see how much a professional mechanic costs, they suddenly have an interest in basic physics.

That's a good suggestion worth looking into. I wish I would've paid more attention to math and science in school.
Thanks

Here is a link that I saved concerning the installment of a low coolant sensor:

Post back with questions you might have. I personally think the low coolant sensor is one of the most important upgrades you can add to a brick. All six of the Volvos I maintain for the family are equipped with one.

I too think of myself as being electrically challenged. I have learned a lot about electrons and their flow by simply reading posts and replys right here on the Brickboard. A willingness to learn goes a long way in acquiring an education.

Hi Randy,

My last couple of assemblies used these vs the more expensive (but probably identical) McMaster Carr liquid level float switches.

They come from China in about a week. Amazing

These assemblies are now in four 240's and I'm still waiting for the day when they save my engine. I suppose the day is coming.
