U-pull it success story 85 245 200 1985

Since I have a little time right now, I decided to go to the local u-pull it and see what they have as far as volvos.

Normally, the one locally has a pretty limited selection..but yesterday and today I found a great find!

I was able to find front seat covers (the ones IPD sell)! No damage, and just a little wear on them. Score!

after I cleaned them up and washed them, I put them on my old seats. And now?

Viola!

Not bad for 8 bucks, eh?

My Pull and Pay has a great website.
They update their listings each time they
put a car on the lot.

http://www.upullandpay.com/Locations/Albuquerque/Search.aspx

You can choose different locations and check their
inventory if there is one in your city. It seems like
my location always has the most 240 models and they
replace them every few weeks.

Good Luck,
Joseph in New Mexico

McScore indeed! Great work! Were there any other bits of jewelry to be liberated from this fine example of economical Swedish motoring? (Sway bars and the like?)

Nope, nothing like that. I did once see a cruise control set-up, but I wasn't at a place where I could get it off (I didn't have the proper tools).

I always snag the cooler knick-knacks off of the cars though. 100's 200's, it doesn't matter. I like the older knobs off of the older cars.

If I ever find one with swaybars, i will probably have to fight my friend dylan for them.

Nice find. You never know what goodies you'll run across at the PnP. Once I found a set of brake pads in the trunk still in the blue box.

The thrill of the hunt. 200 1985

I find all kinds of stuff in the wheel wells in the bricks. I've found blue box brake pads. box of 6 mann oil filters(NIP), Bugicord wires, ball joints, wheel bearings, tie rod ends, FPR and tools.

I've also scored rare accessories for RWD for cheap. Such as armrests w/cupholders. IPD stuff, Dog gates, gauges and oil temp senders. 240 power sunroof kits. turbo plus kits, etc.

For me it's like hunting for treasure. Each brick I look at, I look over the entire car looking for special parts and when I find them; I get all excited like a kid at Christmas! I guess the thrill of the hunt is what excites me.

I've bought a couple of oldtimers that had a box of pads inside.

I was coming up with a list of all the things I've replaced on my car via a u-pull-it.

I've replaced the cloth front seat covers, got a real leather back seat, a newer gear-shift boot, old style front grill and round front headlights, 3 total door pockets, a dash tachometer, 2 different dash clocks; 1 big 1 small, I did have one from a 100, but it went where all good broken parts go...:(, a smaller steering wheel, a used PS Pump, misc lights in dash, tailgate latch cover, interior body panels (small), tail-lights covers, about 8 tail-light bulbs, spare tire retaining belt, tailgate handle, antenna line, support handle (to help get out of the car), several dash-board buttons/gadgets, heat controls (I went with the retro knob style, with the metal face plate), old style headlight button (pull instead of twist), old style cig-lighter and my "seat belt" notifier light.

Not to mention numerous emblems I..um.."got" and other dash-board trinkets.

I think half of my car is from a u-pull it now!

Man, looking back at what I've done with my car, I had no idea just how much I would end up doing to fix the thing when I got it. Fix isn't the right word though...outside of the wiring harness, heater blower motor and the water pump, timing belt and now OD issue, I didn't have to fix it.

Wow...I am so glad I'm done with most of the fix.
