Problem with Pertronix 120-130

Hi, My 122s was running perfect and I decided to install the pertonix ignition and now its running rough and backfires through the carb. Sounds like the timing if off now. Does anybody have any ideas how I can correct this or just reinstall the points???

You will need to adjust the timing after installing the Pertronix kit.

Yes - do you have a timing gun? If not you'll be guessing. Setting the timing isn't hard to do.

One tip on a Pertronix, don't leave the ignition on for an extended time as it seems to burn them out.

Just to add to the fun, it's possible to install the trigger device on an electronic ignition improperly clocked, so that when a spark is actually triggered the rotor isn't very close to a cap terminal.

+1 on leaving the ignition on. If the magnet and the sensor line up when the ignition is on there will be a continuous electrical flow. After about 30 seconds you're living on borrowed time.
Timing is often a bit out after fitting. They seem to be better than they used to be apparently.
Sounds more likely that you have put your plug leads back on wrongly.

Thanks for the help. Got it running perfect now except one of the backfires blew out two freeze plugs from the fuel injection holes.

How do you usually set your ignition timing?
If you DON'T, you should have gotten help to do this job!
