Question about changing the front wiper motor ... 200 1984

My 1984 has a dying wiper motor -- they're getting slower and somewhat noisy, despite good voltage at the plug:
[I've removed each wiper arm one at a time to see if there's a difference, and there isn't, so the motor seems to be the culprit.]
... so I thought I'd change the motor.

This is one of the few things I've never done on any of my cars, so I was wondering what I will face: That is, does the motor just come out off it's mount on the firewall (engine bay side), with some sort of shaft going into the firewall to the linkage, or do I also have to release some fastener on the "behind the glovebox" side of the firewall, too?

Thanks for any tips.

This stuff works well to replace the existing black sticky sealing material around the shaft:

The fix may be to glue the magnets back in place. These are known to separate from the case making noise or slowing the w/w down.

Great tip -- I'll check it out after I get the motor off (might save me lots of $$$). Thanks. N.M.I. 200 1984

In principal, it's a cinch.

Just pull the glovebox, remove the 10mm(?) bolt, remove the funky clip holding the motor in place (this is kind of a PITA). Wearing some nitrile gloves is kinda nice: I always seem to get grosser in the dash than I do under the hood. Then the bolts on the firewall under the hood. Reassemble. :-)

I've only done this once a long while ago so I'm shooting in the dark.

Take Glovebox out and look for clip that holds the Motor shaft to the linkage.
Firewall side, take off the 3 (?) pieces of hardware and you will have a tough time pulling the motor assembly away from the firewall because It is really gooped in place.
