My love of 10 yrs a 92 940T crapped out, looking @ C70 Turbo Convertable

My baby finally bit the dust. First a mysterious battery drain, which I had our local independant Volvo Garage look @ numerous times could not be diagnosed, then the transmission went. So it's spend 2K for a tranny and 1400 for a wiring harness or find a new car. A shame, I just redid the whole interior with black leather and put a new muffler on, new CD stero, etc,, what a shame

Anyway, looking @ a 2000 C70 Turbo convertible and wondering the reliablilty factor, (realizing it's not a RWD beast) but just curious as to the general consensus on this site, as I am a 940/240 fan and am clueless about the new models.

How about a used tranny? Plenty of them around. The wiring? I doubt that you need $1,400 worth of wire-the 940 does not have bad wiring-get a second and a third opinion.

As far as a C70, I have 5 740/940 Volvos and I love them all but Volvo is dead to me since 1995. And, yes, I have tried, to see the point of newer FWD Volvo but it's not for me. I'd go with a Toyota, Honda, Nissan before I got into a FWD Volvo...

It's killing me to part with it, but having to tow it to another mechanic. The trannies shot so it won't go. The wiring issue was intermittent, so a pain to diagnose. I'm hesitant to spend the money on the tranny and go through another 6 months of having to get jumps every other time I go out.

Just a caution to all 940 owners in warmer climates (Florida), I blew the tranny in a 740 wagon as well, and I have it flushed on a regular basis. I would strongly advise getting an oil cooler for your tranny.

Of course if anyone in South Florida can recommend and independent Volvo shop. I might go ahead and tow it in to see what they can do. If they can fix the electric problem, I'll get the tranny fixed.
