How do you guys keep stuff from flying around the back of the wagon 900 1993

I love my new wagon but I am used to hiding all my junk in the trunk. Any elegant solutions? Besides keeping books, gym bag, shoes, etc. from sliding around it would be nice to have a security cover. Is there an aftermarket cover? I don't want someone to break a window just to steal my gym bag. I know I can put some stuff underneath but nothing very tall plus it isn't as easily accessible.
Thanks.

I use bungee cords and a selection of bins with lids and cargo bags with velcro strips on the bottom to keep it attached to the carpet. Nothing moves back there :)

I got lucky at the flea market & found a heavy-duty plastic shipping tub with lid, approx 2'x3'x18" deep, kind like the ones the drug stores get their small items in.
And this one was even tan color, a fair match for the interior of my 940. It looks non-descript enough not to attract attention, and is large enough to be useful.

I put it behind the rear passenger-side seat, and fold the other rear seat flat.

You might check WallyMart for a shallow storage box but the ones I've seen there are transparent.

The Volvo OEM roller-type cargo covers show up on eBay from time to time, but wind up going for over $100.

    a) I slowed down.

    b) Also - things were hidden the one time my car - earlier vehicle - was broken into.

    c) The metal strap anchors are also built-in for heavier objects. I avoid leaving heavy objects unanchored in the back. Even the tire iron is strapped down under the floorboard back there.

In my 1995, there are two metal loops on either side. I use old heavy duty milk cartons and tie them down with a bungee cord.

Anything of value goes under the floor or the side cavities. Out of sight out of mind.

There are a number of volvo accessories that may be helpful. Vlvworld has pictures at:

You can get them cheaper from tasca volvo. I recently got the side cargo net for $30.

I went to the hardware store and bought a pack of velcro. I super glued six of the hook part squares to the bottom of each thing I have in the trunk. This keeps things in place from sliding around.

    Dear Torque,

May this find You well. To store emergency-use items (flares, tow rope, tools, etc.) I bought a plastic storage bin, with a hinged, two-part cover. I hold it into place with a bungee cord. Other items I cover with an old blanket, carried in case I have to kneel or lay-down to do a repair.

For the record, I pay the gravity bill - in full and on time - so items stay down.

    Hope this helps.

    Yours faithfully,

    Spook

Long arms, I got a bungie cord cargo net thingy from some discount place and attatched it to the back of the seats, I have the factory roll out cover too so no miscreant can see my treasures*

    * treasures consist of assorted Volvo bits, booster cables, winter survival kit, and a few novels for when my wife has me waiting for 'only 5 minutes honey'
