Small hole in Header - suggestions needed 200

I have a small hole in the header about 6 inches from the flange to the converter. The metal around the hole is solid. (It seems like the hole may have been from where the heat shield attached) I read in the FAQ that exhaust putty worked into wad of fire proof material held in place by a couple of good hose clamps may be a good temporary solution. What would be a good fireproof material to use and where would I get it?

Thanks for the help (again)

Mark

Small hole in Header - suggestions needed 200

When I was much younger and had no money, I tried all those exhaust remedies, Gray goop wrapped with fiberglass etc.
If it's as you say where it was a shield hold down spot that let go, Then ..What TRICHARD said... find anyone with a small Mig welder, in a few seconds the Header is good to go.

I have used a small steel rivet to fill a hole in the header pipe in the past. If it is small enough it can work.
