Boge/SACHS Strut Nomenclature ISSUES! 200

Vendors are making me VERY angry. Don't let them screw you!
Boge Automatics = Sachs Super Touring > Made in Mexico, non gas charged
Boge Turbo Gas = Sachs Advantage > Made ?, Gas charged
DON'T LET THEM SEND YOU THE WRONG THING AND CHARGE YOU INCORRECTLY!
I will not name names, but I have issues with 2 of my most trusted vendors on this. Yet another vendor doesn't tell you on their site, what they are sending you! They ALL need to do better and get the descriptions and names cleared up! Know what you are buying and paying for! I'm going to try Rock Auto next, maybe they can get it right!

    Boge/SACHS Strut Nomenclature ISSUES! 200

I had a similar experience with IPD and FCP these last two weeks. Both websites have the Sachs Super Touring listed incorrectly. IPD says you will get Boge TurboGas. FCP says you're getting Sachs Advantage (an equivalent strut). But both of them sent the Super Touring.
I had one NOS Boge TurboGas and needed another for my '93 240. IPD (Bud Cowgill), after some banter, agreed to refund, and change their website. We'll see if that happens. FCP (Mike Rivera) assured me that he had a couple Advantage left and would make sure that would be sent. Didn't happen. He agreed that he needs to change the website as well. Again, we'll see.
It happens that both say there is a running change. If that is so, then why is the Advantage still alive on Sachs site?
I can tell you this: the Sachs Super Touring is NO WHERE NEAR as stiff as the Boge TurboGas.
I have them side by side. From Germany to Mexico, something got lost in translation!
Today, I finally found a vendor who has one of the older Sachs Advantage under the old spec number 1610376. This one is German red label (100-597). The newer number is 1814867 (100.597). Look carefully.
Boge TurboGas (32-327F)--good luck finding these.
I will continue to support both FCP Groton and IPD. They are fair and treat me well. They just need to update their websites to avoid giving so much trouble.

FWIW, what's on the box and what's *in* the box are two different things. What matters is what's on the part itself.

For example, I ordered a pair of Boge Turbo Gas struts. They came in a Sachs Advantage box and a Sachs Super Touring box. I wouldn't have known what was up had I not opened the boxes, and found my Boge Turbo's.

These SACHS shocks/struts have stickers on them that identify them so it is easy to tell what you were sent. I have a huge issue with a vendor putting his sticker on the box for the better ones onto the box of the cheaper variety, hoping nobody will notice. That's a relationship breaker for me and still hasn't been corrected on the website yet.

If you really want to help, then name the vendors. This way we'll all be more completely informed.I don't think it is bashing the venders. And this way we can all be on the same page when we talk shocks/struts.

    Boge/SACHS Strut Nomenclature ISSUES! 200 1990

I just sent for Sachs Advantage Front Struts from FCP. I received them and the box doesn't say anything about "Advantage."

They have not yet been installed but they need to be installed by the end of December (state inspect.). I will be paying to have these intalled at a local garage-I am not confident in my DIY skills yet to tackle this job.

I searched the forums (a few weeks ago) about the Sachs Advantage struts and thought they were supposed to be MADE IN GERMANY.

The ones I received say MADE IN MEXICO and on the box I think the model is "Sport... something" (I don't have them in front of me.

Aren't these supposed to be MADE IN GERMANY? Are they no longer made there?

I am a bit apprehensive about having these installed as I haven't read good things about the Sachs MADE IN MEXICO struts and I paid $65 for each!

I am glad you brought this up!

Did I receive the wrong struts??!!??

Double checked and yes, box says Super Touring and they are made in Mexico-I ordered Advantage. From all the issues I have read about these, I am not going to be paying for these to be installed.

I will be calling FCP in the next few days and hopefully things get cleared up.

I have a set of sachs advantage struts waiting to be installed that I got about 6 months ago. The box and the struts both say sachs advantage made in Germany.

I don't mind paying the bill, but just like you, I want what I want, and not some look-a-like or cheesy substitute.
