    Engines generally don't make "grinding" noises. Usually knocking or tapping. But could be the camm belt tenshioner bearing. Most likely one of the accessories: alternator, ac compressor or pwr steering pump. Or maybe the fan scraping on the schroud due to bad engine mounts but that wouldn't be heat related.
