Rear Bumper Repair 200

I was rear ended mildly on the way home tonight. The car that hit us was an 02 Volvo S40 (I think that's right), anyway, all it did was drive one side of the bumper in about even with the trim piece, no body damage, taillights etc.

I assume his insurance will pay to fix it, although the policeman did not give him a ticket.

Has anyone repaired something like this?

Are you talking about repairing his bumper or yours? I've had good luck with a heat gun, a strong tree and a stout piece of rope, and a hot glue gun on my 240s. As for that modern stuff, I've got no idea except for a body shop.

I settled with the insurance for a little over 400.00. I took it by my friends body shop on the way home. He looked under it and got a "porta-power" and basically popped the bumper back out. Good as new.

I suspect the S40 was far less lucky!

Both headlights, grill, and hood were all damaged. I'll keep my 240...

Yeah the new cars are real crumple machines. They do the same thing to those dollar bills in the wallet!

Those cars are not even good at defending their space in the grocery store parking lot.

It's really scary for me to see those fancy cars following other cars on the highways with about the same distance in front.

Volvo has the new automated distance separation gizmo for those idiots. I noticed that Volvo wrote a big ole disclaimer to go with it, for free! It has a speed limitation boundary, naturally.

Who needs this stuff? OH yes, it’s the lame brained GPS programming, Bose surround sound thumping, cell phone texting fool!

Did the one that hit you just happen to have an excuse?

Bet they were tight lipped to the policeman and as he looked at the damage. Fender benders don’t exist anymore. Stuff explodes inside and out.

He thought to himself that they will get their due from their insurance company, later!

Good on ya for the $400 holiday bonus.

            Phil
