It runs! Sort of . . . help? 700 1990

Alright, I posted a few weeks back about my brother's 1990 740 GL wagon. I couldn't get it to start then. Today I finally got back to it. Here's what has currently been done:

Intake cleaning (throttle body, air filter)
Checked for vacuum leaks (none found)
Cleaned battery posts and all contacts, including main ground
Cleaned grounding trees near front edges of car
Compression test = 150psi give or take 2psi in each cylinder
Catalytic converted good (removed it, thinking it was culprit. . . grrr)
New engine temp sensor (OBD I said it was bad)
Air intake temp sensor tested good

I now have no OBD codes in either terminal. The car is Rex/Regina.

The car runs, but poorly. It will start with some cajoling. I have to rev it a lot, though the car doesn't rev with the throttle at first. Off of idle, it struggles badly, then "catches" and revs normally. There is very little power. The first five minutes after it is started, it can't hold idle, but dies.

Any guesses? I don't have a fuel pressure tester, but I know that gas is getting there. I'm looking for directions to head . . .

Thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Nate

Have you checked the air filter and replaced the fuel filter?

How does your exhaust smell? Rich? Is it consistent, or does it miss pulses?
If you pull the vacuum hose off the fuel pressure regulator, does it smell of fuel, or does any leak out?

Good Luck

Thanks for the responses, guys! I forgot to mention--I pulled the hose off of the FPR while the engine was running. No fuel or smell of fuel, but no change in engine running either (I plugged the vacuum hose with my finger).

The idle isn't consistent really at all, but it is consistent once it "catches" off idle. The exhaust felt weak, which is why I suspected the cat. I didn't smell the exhaust. I'll do that next time I start her up.

Have you checked for spark at each plug? Cleaned the two grounds on the fuel rail? When you pull the plugs after its been running poorly do any of the plugs reek of gas?

I would check the O2 Sensor. Also Pull the vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator. See if you see any fuel . Their should not be any fuel in the line.
