1989 760 Turbo purchase 700 1989

Looking for information on this model and year.
The good, the bad and the ugly.

89 Turbo has the 230FT ? yes.
Is this the same red block used in the 240's with a turbo bolted on? I have a 91 240.

Good choice or bad choice to buy.
Electrical?
Turbo?
mechanical?
Suspension?
etc....

I am looking at another 1800 and it comes with an 89 760 as a package deal.
Not that I really need another Volvo but hey it looks decent and has 220,00km on it. My 91 240 has double that.

All comments are appreciated.

89 Turbos came with a Garrett not sure about the 91 240 but a 91 700 had a mitsubishi, Garretts spin up slower but give boost at higher speeds while mitsus give almost instand boost and loose it around 50mph.
that 89 will most likey have a K block in it, yes its a red block and should be identicle to the 240 block wise.
No real problems with the elctricle that are notable in an 89.
Suspension either it has IRS or solid only way to tell is look at the rear end.

Big problems with the 760 in general are the ACC. other items are commen problems with 700, electric seats etc etc check out the 700/900 faq foe all the info youll ever need

The 740 has a longer wheel base than your 240. The ride is better. There is a little more room in the engine compartment that allows the turbo.
While it lacks the classic Volvo wagon look, the 1989 745T is a good car that's pretty responsive with good road manners. It will need a litle more maitenance than the 240 series. I use my 740 wagon to haul around outboards up to 225hp. It's got more cargo space. It's like an enclosed pick up for me.

It does has IRS. The Nivomats were just replaced
