Emergency brake light stays on 700

I replaced the handbrake cable (long one on drivers side) last Sat. After the repair I have noticed that the emergency brake light stays on even after the parking brake has been released.Drove the car for about 5 miles without any problem, but the emrgency light bothers me. Any tips about a possible solution? Thanks again in advance for any tips/replies/suggestions. By the way, the brake fluid reservoir is at max so I know it is not the problem.

1990 wagon here does the same thing since new cable was jury-rigged in to console. Apparently, it takes just a hair of rise in the parking brake to switch on the dash light. I would readjust the cable anchorment to make sure there is no upwards presure on the handle.

Check the switch under the handle. It's a NC switch with a spring, the handbrake pushes it open when it's all the way down.

AFAIK there's NO connection between brake fluid reservoir and the Parking Brake light, but there is between the Brake dummy light.

good luck,
Will

Will, thanks for your reply. Yes I checked the switch (when depressed the light goes off) so the problem I suspect is the tension on the cable (adjustment).
