Ignition key Broke 700 1987

I have a broken key inside the ignition cylinder that won't come out. Can someone explain how to remove the cylinder to replace?

With the broken key inside the cylinder I assume you can still move the lock to its different positions? Perhaps with a screwdriver or other tool?

If so start the car and drive it to a locksmith. You might want to call around and find one that sounds like he is willing to work with you. This is what locksmiths do. He should be able to extract the key without much drama and cut a new one from the two pieces.

Not sure if it's the same as a 90 740 but I had the key bust off in mine called a lock smith he worked on it for 3 hours and gave up didn't charge me anything.. The lock cyclinder has rollers in it that prevent them from using a key pick I made some from a old hack saw blade and tried and tried I finnally gave up and drilled it out with a 1/2 in drill and just used a screw driver to turn the switch. I found a 740 with no title and bought it fot the motor and key switch. If you can turn the key to position 3 you can release the key drum and pull it out and maybe get the peice out.. After I drilled mine out I could release it and slide out the drilled out one and slide in a new one. If you want a better explaination e-mail me and we can chat on the phone... TO MUCH INFO FOR ME TO TYPE SORRY...LOL
