SAGINAW or Scan-tech? 200

Hey guys... Received my FCP order expecting a new >>SAGINAW<< ps pump dressed in black as described and pictured on their site only to find a SCAN-TECH boxed pump instead. And an unpainted one at that. Disheartening to keep having this happen over and over.

I suspect Scan-Tech doesn't mfgr them so my question would be who does?? If I wanted a Scan-Tech and their shoddy history, I sure as heck wouldn't have shelled out the $200 for it. Rock Auto has a Delco pump which in my eyes is closer to the Saginaw for $128.

Is there an off chance that this pump is indeed an actual GM Saginaw pump? If not, it's going back tomorrow.

    No Chance 200

There is no chance at all that the pump is a Saginaw, ScamTech repackages the cheapest crap they can get.

I had a similar issue with FCP a few years ago, ordered (and paid for) Elring head gasket set off of the web page, got no name junk instead. The only way I'd buy from them is on the phone, that way I can get a name and clearly explain what I want.

Can you source a decent used pump out of a boneyard? I'm pretty sure Scan-tech doesn't manufacture those pumps as well. I'd be tempted to try Rock Auto before installing anything marketed as Scan-tech.

I'm taking on grunts, rattles, and funny noises one by one on the 84. Tired of spraying WD40 around the pully shaft to quiet the bearing noise or whatever is causing it to sound OLD.

Present pump runs fine but decided to go new when I saw that FCP had a "genuine" SAGINAW pump on the site. Had the same noisy problem with my first 84. Also sounded old plus it leaked. Replaced it with aftermarket junk that lasted a couple of yrs before it started moaning and leaking. Replaced seals on that one but never a long term fix. Really want something that's going to last a while and STAY quiet...

Have you talked to FCP about this?

Spoke to them this morning. Their explanation was that they no longer carry the Saginaw and substituted the ST pump instead. I told them that Saginaw isn't ST. Send it back was their response so I did. Insured UPS $12 and change.

Can't take anything for granted even on a website so calling in advance to confirm things is good advice.
