36mm ate rear brake piston. 700 1988

HI Guys.....anybody see a problem with running with a frozen ( boot torn) 36mm piston ATE on the rear of a 88 740gle wagon with new rotors for a few days?

I hit brakes with half the caliper loaded and the frozen side didn't move.

Inside piston drivers side and pad not touching or wasn't when changed pads.

I threw in an pad that was close to fitting so it wouldn't rattle to much and just in case piston un froze (if such a thing is possible) I'd get pretty good stopping power with no noise.

Also I read somwhere where volvo doesn't sell or discontinued the 36mm ATE and encourages the 38 or 40mm relacement.

what happens if mix rear with say a 36 and a 38 mm ?

thanks much

Mark

I think for a few days you should be okay. I'd think over the long roll that you'll be ahead to have two rebuilt calipers of the same clamping force working for you back there. I'm sure someone with more savvy will chime in soon.
