Help with mystery noise, '67 144 140-160

A "grrraaaaank", sometimes with fading "...ak ak ak..".
(To be distinguished from what I think of as a bearing noise
which is more "shhhhhhkkkk")
Seems to come from RF corner.

Does it when car is loaded with more than 1 person, more weight =
more often and louder.
Bumps and turns, esp. left turns increase the likelihood.

The car is being brought back from 19 years of (mostly) sitting
in a garage. Shocks are new.

Checked so far:
RF wheel bearings (new) OK.
All (old) bushings in place and flexing.
No tire abrasion that we can see on the new tires.

Any help appreciated. All car noises simulated, © 2009

The "grrraaaaank" sounds to me like a dry lower ball joint. The "ak ak ak..." sounds to me like a very loose, worn out lower ball joint.

If I'm right (and George too), it means your ball joint is about to separate.

I would absolutely _not drive this car_ until you get a firm diagnosis, and repair if it is that. I suppose it could also be a combination of shocks, shock bushings, sway bar bushings, squeaky bushings..

But expect the worse and figure it out before you turn that ignition key again!

My 69 164 did that and it turned out to be a dry/wet lower ball joint.
Rusty joints squeak under stress in a variety of pitches, some pretty low.

The old grrraaaaank ...ak ak ak.. combination. Probably the lower A-arm bushes are shot. Make sure there's no cracks in your lower A-arm radiating from the swaybar link area.
