Mystery Part 444-544

Can anybody tell me what the red bracket is in the photo? It was on the engine when I bought the car and there is a hole in the face toward the radiator, but nothing was mounted to it. The bolts holding it in place are the #3 and #7 head bolts except that the #7 bolt looks a little wimpy compared to the others.

See photo at: http://s205.photobucket.com/albums/bb191/jvh99/?action=view¤t=99-forum-1.jpg

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

I don't have any idea on the bracket, but I notice your front carb has a wire through the cap of the damper. Am I right? Why? If it is what I think it is I may have a solution for you to try.

The carbs are off the car right now but I don't see a wire. I'd be interested in your solution though.

Definitely A/C -- it is not a supercharger part!

On board the A/C bracket bandwagon.

Doesn't look like a Volvo part, possible some sort of custom A/C installation. Might not have ever been on the PV itself, perhaps the motor is from another car that had A/C added?

I think it's vintage aftermarket. I remember the same piece in an A/C kit we installed on a 122S back in the day... but don't ask me who made the kit. :)

Definitely an A/C piece - it's the bracket for a tensioner pulley.

AC pulley? 444-544

I'm guessing a bracket for an AC pulley
