How to flush steering fluid? 200 1988

When you have the rack removed it is easy. Drain the return line and leave it off, put a stopper in the hole where the line connects to the reservoir. Put the line from the power steering pump to the rack over in a container. Fill up the reservoir to the top with clean fluid and start spinning the pump pulley. Art posted a picture (I know you are shocked Art has a picture of this) of using a pulley on a drill to turn the pump. Run a 1/2 quart or what ever makes you sure it's clean through the pump and that should do the trick. You can pour some through the return line just to be sure that you have it all flushed. The rack should come all nice an clean so the two lines, the pump, and the reservoir all you need to worry about.

That and not loosing one of those copper seal washers on the fittings. Those are a PITA to find if you misplace one. Yeah I have that T Shirt also.

Regards,

Paul
