hot then not start 700

I just got my 740 turbo wagen back rollin again after getting a new computer (OUCH!!!) The silly vehicle got hot due to a broken upper radiator hose but it didn't seize up. It literally ran for 2 minutes with the needle in the red then it was shut off. Then nothing. It doesn't start at all. The engine will turn over but not fire. Please help.

I suspect you are going to need to provide a crap-load more information before anyone is going hazard a guess at what is going on. Let's start with the basics:

    Year
    Mileage

Next, what is and is not working? I assume you just replaced the upper radiator hose and refilled with the appropriate fluids (hoepfully you did an oil change as well but that is not part of the diagnostics). Was this before or after the ECM replacement? What prompted the ECM replacement? Do you have any codes when you use the ODB module under the hood?

Now troubleshooting. Does it have spark? Is it getting fuel to the injector rail? If answer to the two above is "yes" what is the compression? Normally I would not jump right to compression but since you overheated it there is a chance of a head gasket failure (somewhat likely) or a warped head (pretty unlikely) both of which would show low compression in one or more cylinders...usually.

Check the 700/900 FAQ's for most of the troubleshooting guidelinse for all of this. If something in the FAQ's does not make sense, try the search function. If you cannot find the answer you need with a search, please post your question, with sufficient information to assist you with a specific problem.

    Thanks,

    Onkel Udo

87 with 230,000 + miles. Earlier the car wouldn't start and I replaced the fuel inj and rsr relays to no avail = a new uded computer. Can't read codes due to no code reader. Yes for spark and the fuel pump is spinning. Yes it is full of fluids, both oil and anti freeze. Haven't tried compression yet.
