I need you to talk me out of something: this morning I went to the scrapyard for a handle and hinges for my 1991 240. As is not unusual, I spotted some other things which might be worth having... Above all, I saw an 740 with 3 Virgos on it. I have always thought that my 240 would look great with a set of alloys.
On the other hand: 3 means I'd need to find another one. They were not in good shape, painted over, and without the center caps. And - I like the stock look of my brick, I don't really need alloys or other fancy mods. I also like how it handles, even better now with the turbo bar.
But it hurts to think of those virgos, all lonely sitting there and wasting away.

Thanks for the toughts, I have gotten over the virgos. I figured out what bothered me were the plastic covers. So I took them off, cleaned the black steelies, and replaced the lugnuts with shiny ones. I like it now. One issue that remains are the centers, don't know if there are caps to cover them. Will see.

I guess you have seen the site that describes using heavier cloth and spray adhesive to repair the foam? I do not have the link but it is good in describing the reinforcing of the foam.

I repaired the seats in my son't 1990 four or five years ago and they are holding up well.

Art's suggestion of a test light would serve you well. You need to trace the seat wiring and grid to see where your electron flow is stopping.

Sadly the lower foam seems to be splitting further and I'm listing to port again, though not as badly as before, and the vertical split in the seatback foam is much worse now. Worst case, I can still buy new seatback foam, but the bottom cushion, new, is unobtainium.

I agree. The often found rat's nest of tangled wires can be ordered in various ways (including, apparently, dental floss) and massaged into a bun toaster, given patience and determination (and sometimes a multimeter).

Skip the Virgos.

They are heavier than stock steel wheels, they dent easily, get scraps when tires are mounted and leak air.

I guarantee at least two of those Virgos are dented already.

i like virgos.
but if they dont have a balancing maching so you can have the rims spun to see if they are bent i would suggest to pass.
over 60 percent of the virgos i have found were bent so they would hold air but not ride correctly.
same with the hydras, bent easy and are old with high mileage and lots of curbage and potholes.

i gave away my last 8 or 9 cause they were not straight.

Go for it. If all else fails you can buy an extra on ebay, or sell the three you have on there to make some extra cash. They do improve handling a bit because they're light. Unsprung weight and all that
