Whirring/Whine in front part of car 200 1989

I have a whirring in the front part of the car that gets louder on accerleration and peaks out at highers speed it fluctates with the speed I'm travelling. I recently replaced the voltage regulator (not sure if this may be the problem). At first I thought it was the front wheel bearing. I had a spare one so I repalced it with no change. Any thoughts on what the problem may be? Again it sounds like its coming from the front right area of the car. I will try putting the old voltage regulator back.

thanks

You went from thinking it was a Voltage regulator to a front bearing. That's a large range.

You said you changed out 1 front bearing on the right side. there are two bearings per wheel.. did you replace the pair or just one?
How did the Races look? If you replace a bearing but put it with a bad Race, your noise will still be there.

You mentione it's speed related. If you think it's in teh alternator or any other Engine component, get up to speed and put teh car in neutral.. see if teh sounds changes with teh slowing of engine RPM or if it follows the speed of teh tires.

I changed the both bearings and races on the one side. I will try putting it in neutral and get back to you

Another possibility would be the timing belt tensioner. Is the whine present with the car stationary and the motor running?

whine occurs while in motion. Switch from drive to neutral at speed and no difference

Okay then. It looks like we can throw out my idea of any reciprocating parts on the engine being the culprit. Does the sound reduce when the brakes are lightly applied?

I will have to check, I know when I apply my brakes to stop I hear it until I stop. What's your theory?

Possibly I should diassemble and rassemble the new bearing I installed
thanks

Maybe a chunk of rusted brake backplate caught in between the hub and spindle, but you already had the hub off to do the bearings, so maybe not.
