differential cover 700

Hi,
I have a 1986 760 with a leaky differential cover becvause rust pinholes.
I thought it was the speed sensor leaking so I took it off and managed to damage the sensor.
My car has a limited slip differential. Can I put the cover with the speed sensor from a regular differential? Will the sensor hit anything? Do I have to shim anything?
Thanks.

The speed sensor is the same. The Limited Slip differentials used a spacer under the sensor so it is a little further out. The tone ring used on the LSDs is slightly larger in diameter.

HI and thanks for the reply. I do not have the cover in my hands yet. It is still ins transit from the seller to my house. Can you tell me if the cover is the same?
I searched on the net and apparently there is a .5 inch difference in length between those differentials. But I cannot find the info to know if the cover is the same. So if the covers are the same I just have to use the spacer from my cover if I can find it.

        The cover is the same.

For the LSD installation, the original cover was re-installed with the spacer under the speed sensor. As I previously wrote, the LSD tone ring is just a little larger than the stock tone ring. The spacer keeps the sensor from hitting the new tone ring.

          thanks,
just got the cover today. Got to find some epoxy paint and fix the surface rust as well as the connector on the speed sensor. One of the wires barely holds
