Valve Noise and Subsequent Oil Leak 200

Asked here awhile ago about some severe valve ticking after a valve adjustment showed one valve outside spec. I didn't get a fix to the problem from the board, but since I found the fix, I thought it would be good to share it: Turned out to be the lifter bucket.
The old one had a deep indentation on the bottom where the valve contacts the bucket, the noise went away completely after putting a new one in.
Has anyone else seen this? Seems like an odd failure to me, especially since it was just the one.

However, I now have a fairly major oil leak at the front of the engine that I can't figure out the source of.
Since I had to remove the camshaft to change the bucket, I changed the timing belt, crank seal and cam seal at the front of the engine as well as the valve cover gasket, including a little sealant on the sharp corners.

Afterward, the car lost about a litre of oil in 600km, soaking everything in the engine compartment including the water pump, alternator, fan, etc.

Any ideas on what I might have done wrong? The cam seal didn't appear very tight on the shaft although it appears to be seated properly.

Thanks for your help!

It's a 91 240 wagon with about 230,000 kms.

Thanks for the advice!
I guess I'm going to have to strip it down again...

Get ready to lick that dog again. One of the front seal is leaking. The right tools to install them and volvo seal are a little larger than aftermarket seals. Also check the plug at the rear of the head. Clean everything and find the leak first then have another turn at it. I have done this job twice with a socket and a homemade tool and still see a little oil on the water pump. I finally order the correct tool and Volvo Seals just have not had the time to do it a third time. good luck. Greg

It's been reported here that people have issues with Cam seals slipping out. Maybe your New seal is no longer in.

Also the Valve cover gasket needs a good amount of RTV where the flat of the Head curves up the Cam Bearing area.

Clean the engine take off the timing belt cover and run it.
The cam cover gasket needs silicone on both sides all the way around to form a tight leak proof seal. It sounds like too much oil to have come out of the cam cover?

check the cam seal in back of the valve cover facing the firewall. stick your hand down the back of the valve cover and feel for the seal. is it loose? if that goes completely you can lose all your oil in minutes.
