76 242 Exhaust question 200

Time to replace the exhaust system on my brothers 242. Its shot, and we need to replace the whole thing, header pipe back.

Looking at Eeuroparts and FCP, I don't find a listing for the pipe from the header to the front muffler. The one on the car appears to be shop built and sits to close to the floor. In fact, it hits the floor now that we have replaced the collapsed transmission mount.

Should this car have a catalytic convertor? That might explain why neither source shows the pipe, although FCP Groten shows a part that runs from the manifold to the front muffler.

Suggestions? Local muffler shops are not that hot.

Thanks

Zimm

By the way, Frau Blukar did a 350 mile day last Thursday and about 2.5K total since her brain transplant. Hasn't missed a beat.

    76 242 Exhaust question 200

    Hello,

The non-California 1976 240 uses a 1 year only header and did not come with a catalytic converter.

The original part number was 1219533, but appears to have been updated to 1346072.

It appears that the 1219533 also included the front muffler.

I do not know if the 1346072 is the same or whether you have to order an additional muffler too.
