Window switches on 88 wagons 200 1988

Hey everyone

I just bought an 1988 240 GL wagon and as part of my restoration efforts, i need to make the two front windows operational. Anyway, they are power windows in the front, but there are no switches on the elbow rest. On the dash, there are two holes with connectors coming through them, but i'm not sure if these are where the switches need to be connected back up. My question is if Volvo ever installed the power window switches on the dash next to the back defroster, A/C, etc...?

thanks in advance!

You can still buy the switches - they are for the 260 models. I bought my '88 new and had power windows installed at the dealer and the front switches are in the dash and the rear switches are on a tower inbetween the 2 front seats (like over the ash tray for the back seat folks)

I just replaced all 4 of mine a year or so ago - I don't know if I have one of the old ones around or not but can check.

Call a Volvo Dealer and have them check the parts manual.

She's an Aussie model, so that could change things.

Anyway, thanks for the responses, I was really confused for a while.

I have some of those dash mounted front window switches. One of my current parts cars is a 1980 244 Diesel with power in front--manual in the rear. -- Dave

The GL should have power windows standard in the armrests for all of the windows.

The DLs had manual windows standard with the power option of the front window switches being in the dash (your situation) and the rear ones on a special mount located on top of the center console.

I've never seen a US GL with this kit, only DLs. Certanly not an '88. I've owned 3 '88 240 and pulled parts from many in the PnP.

I don't know if those switches are still available. I think I have one in stock and maybe another brickster can help as well.

BTW: The 240 power sunroof switch is the same just different markings on the front of the switch. They're interchangable.

yes 200 1988

Yes they did in the late 70's models, but I have seen a few 80's models with them. The wrecker at Londonderry has a late 70s 264 which has these switches in it, or it did 2 weeks ago.
